The Stray Dog is looking for a highly skilled Line Cook/Prep Cook to support all food preparation and maintain high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness. As a Line Cook/Prep Cook, you should be knowledgeable of various cooking techniques and have a passion for food. You should be able to work in a fast-paced environment with exceptional organization, communication, and time-management skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare meats, seafood, vegetables, and other food items for a variety of cooking methods by portioning, washing, cutting, breading, seasoning, marinating, and other relevant tasks
- Cook food items using ovens, grills, broilers, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
- Plate and garnish menu items in accordance with instructions from kitchen managers
- Keep line stations stocked with necessary meal ingredients and cooking equipment
- Keep cooking stations and kitchen surfaces cleaned and disinfected
- Follow food storage regulations and food rotation practices to reduce food waste and minimize risk of contamination
- Complete opening and closing responsibilities for the back of house
- Obtain Food Handlers card and any certification deemed necessary by the company or state
- Perform any other relevant task as instructed by management
Required Skills and Abilities:
- 1 year of cooking experience preferred
- Availability during days, evenings, weekends
- Knowledge of or ability to learn food health and safety regulations
- Skills in communication, teamwork, and working in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds
